Town Hall Motions 12/02/2018
Motion 1: That Beyond PMSA and its supporters endorse Everald Compton as an elder of the Uniting Church to prepare an independent Submission on his vision for governance reform of the PMSA and the four PMSA schools, and to deliver and discuss that governance vision with all concerned parties.

Motion 2: That, to avoid Somerville House being exposed to a risk of irreversible degradation to its standing as a leading Australian girls school, there be a renewed call for a complete stay on the process for recruitment and appointment of a Principal until such time as the current governance crisis is resolved to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.

Motion 3: That Beyond PMSA take the following immediate preparatory actions following on from its initial advice from Corrs Chambers Westgarth:
(a) Seek further legal advice on the requirements to petition the Attorney General and Minister for Justice to exercise her discretion under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld) to revoke the PMSA’s Letter’s Patent and require it to be registered as an Incorporated Association; and
(b) Seek further legal advice on the progression of other identified causes of action against the PMSA, as a consequence of the ongoing governance issues referred to by Beyond PMSA in its December 2017 Submission to the Moderators.

Motion 4: That, in the regrettable circumstance that:
(a) Mr Compton’s Submission is not received and given due and prompt consideration by both Churches; and
(b) Following delivery of Mr Compton’s Submission, a response which promptly and appropriately addresses the governance crisis in our schools is not forthcoming,
then Beyond PMSA will:
(c) report to Beyond PMSA Supporters about the advice referred to in Motion 3 and the steps required to implement the advice; and
(d) seek a further mandate at that time to take the necessary steps to enable it to institute any recommended proceedings in order to bring about appropriate governance reform.”
