PMSA Corporate Governance Changes
Dear Beyond PMSA supporters,
As many of you know the PMSA will soon publicly announce their proposed corporate governance changes that have come out of the recent AICD. We expect the announcement to be made during the final week of term 3.
We sincerely hope that the PMSA have listened to the various stakeholders’ voices and that their proposed changes will help bring our much loved schools into the 21st century.
We suspect that the majority, if not all of the proposals will be a positive step forward for the PMSA.
The real question will be, have the proposals gone far enough and do they address the underlying structural problems that could disadvantage our schools in the rapidly maturing and competitive educational environment.
Our schools must be positioned ahead of the curve if they are to maintain a world class level of excellence in Christian education and corporate good governance.
We are holding our next town hall on the 10th of October to discuss the PMSA’s proposals and the potential outcomes.
We will be giving the PMSA credit for the proposals that meet or exceed the industry benchmarks, and be commenting on the proposals that fall short of industry benchmarks and most importantly be discussing the reasons why.
In order to highlight best practice, we will have a panel of corporate governance experts to guide us in our analysis of the PMSA’s proposed changes. We will announce details of our contributing panelists soon.
We are very grateful to the many contributors to the Beyond PMSA blogs & reports over the past year, and we are always interesting in hearing from a variety of constructive views. In order to provide the most relevant and respected commentary possible, we are also calling for additional nominees to contribute to the discussion. If you are, or know of an authority on corporate governance, particularly in the not-for-profit and education sectors who may be interested in discussing the outcomes of the review and industry “best practice”, then please email us at beyondpmsa@beyondpmsa.com
The Rally Call
It is paramount that we remind the PMSA council members that mediocrity will not be accepted. We will not go away.
Please show your support of our demands for excellence in good governance for our beloved schools by attending the Town Hall, and please spread the word!
In this instance, the media are not welcome.
