Why should you attend the Town Hall meeting?
Next Tuesday night’s Town Hall meeting is more important than ANY Town Hall meeting that we have held before.
If you have been with us through the fight to secure a better future for our schools to this point, PLEASE STAY THE COURSE.
We have been contacted by many supporters suggesting that the hard work is done, and they don’t believe that they need to physically show their support for true governance reform of the PMSA.
If you truly love our schools then YOU NEED TO COME TO THIS EVENT to understand:
1. The changing landscape and challenges confronting our schools; and
2. What SMART schools and their governing bodies must do to meet and conquer those challenges head-on.
Yes, we’ve made considerable progress since last year, and we should celebrate some of those wins, but if the process ends here, then it will FAIL. The next stage of reforms that we are pushing for and which did not form part of the AICD review process is critical to the future of our schools.
Going “further” than the path we’ve traveled down already isn’t overkill, it’s NOT TRIVIAL and more importantly, it’s not without CONSEQUENCES if we don’t. It’s all about TRUST, ACCOUNTABILITY, SAFETY AND FUTURE FINANCIAL SUCCESS. It’s also about removing entrenched structural RISK, - risk that can’t be removed by simply shifting the furniture. For that reason alone we must be “all-in” on reform or nothing will truly change and our schools will be left floundering in a middle ground where they will never be able to reach their true potential.
Tuesday’s Town Hall meeting will be an important chance to hear from experts and understand all of these things. It will also be an opportunity to dis
cuss why the philosophical journey to go further may seem harder for some than the reality of effort, complexity and cost associated with it. What we are pushing for doesn’t endanger ownership, values, traditions or the Christian mission. It can only enhance those things. So, together let’s:
1. Understand the RISKS;
2. Dispel the MYTHS ; and
3. Discuss the BENEFITS.
See you on Tuesday, 9th October, 6.30pm
